Brenden Reynolds

My name is Brenden and I'm a software engineer from Stoney Creek, Ontario. I started programming at a very young age when my dad made me get a hobby and bought me a JavaScript training course, and since then I've been developing my skills across a variety of languages in preparation for the time I program professionally.

My philosophy when it comes to programming is to "always be learning", and because of that, I always try to challenge myself to learn new languages, new technologies, and new techniques that allow me to further expand my skillset. I find joy in being challenged, as it gives me a sense of pride when I overcome it, and I walk away having learned something new.

Inventory Management & Production Tracking

I brought this web app to life from the ground up, focusing on a clean, friendly interface and smooth user journeys. Working with a diverse team, I learned how to turn big ideas into real solutions that make a difference.

Augmented Reality Robotics

Developed by myself in collaboration with Visual Components, create and animate your own robotic cells, then send it to my app for an AR experience. Showing potential customers what their potential product would look like in their building with an accurate real life scale.

FAQ

Let’s answer your questions

Which languages do you code in?

  • C#
  • C++
  • SQL
  • Python
  • HTML/CSS/JavaScript
  • Typescript
  • Rust

What technologies do you use?

  • .NET
  • AWS
  • Azure
  • Git
  • MSSQL & MongoDB
  • Unity
  • Jira

How do you tackle tough problems?

I learned programing before the apocalypse of AI, So I try my best to tackle problems the old fashioned way. I take heavy advantage of writing pseudocode to better understand and break down the issue into smaller parts, then work on solving them 1 at a time. Whether it be trial and error, browsing forums, or asking others, I always exhaust my options before turning to AI as it takes the fun and challenge out of learning a new concept and I see it as the easy way out.

What’s a project you loved?

Making the augmented reality application shown above has probably been my most enjoyable project that I've fully completed. I learned so many new techniques and technologies and every day I came to work I was excited to continue where I left off, and even after work has ended I was brainstorming what to do the next day and doing research in advance so I could hit the ground running. And seeing the app be used in real time to actually make a difference, and seeing peoples reactions to the app made the whole experience even better.

How do you keep learning?

I have a love of the craft, aside from the stuff I'm making for work, I have a few passion projects on the side, I'm currently working on my own AI model that I plan on integrating into my house to make my own custom smart home, I'm also working on an indie game in Unity with my little cousin whom I'm teaching programming as well. For me, finding something I enjoy doing and actually making it is what keeps me going, and learning new things from those projects is the natural biproduct.

How are you so handsome?

I got it from my dad. :)
